(GWINNETT-METRO ATLANTA) November 5, 2019 – The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) recognized Partnership Gwinnett, Georgia’s largest local economic development team, with a silver award of Excellence in the 2019 Innovative Programs and Initiatives category for the annual Partnership Gwinnett Redevelopment Peer Tour. This award acknowledges programs or initiatives that offer an innovative or unique approach to an organizational management or development challenge.
“Congratulations to Partnership Gwinnett on this outstanding achievement,” said Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson. “As the Top State for Business six years in a row, we are proud to work alongside our fantastic local economic development partners, like Partnership Gwinnett, to achieve unrivaled economic success throughout the state. IEDC’s Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize the world’s best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials, and the year’s most influential leaders. The award was presented at the 2019 IEDC Annual Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. Haley Tolbert, Director of Programs and Communications, accepted the award on behalf of the Partnership Gwinnett team.
“Gwinnett County congratulates Partnership Gwinnett on this prestigious award and we are proud to work alongside them to further the economic prosperity of our community,” stated Gwinnett County Commission Chair Charlotte Nash.
The Partnership Gwinnett Redevelopment Peer Tour’s mission is to provide a first-hand experience and inside look at successful redevelopment projects taking place in peer communities around the region. The trip affords county leaders the opportunity to see successful redevelopment projects in action and provides insight and inspiration for local development in our community. Participants engage in meaningful conversation and group discussions with local leaders involved in economic redevelopment and have the opportunity to focus solely on short and long-term planning for their community.

Partnership Gwinnett has been previously recognized by the IEDC with awards in 2010 and 2016 for excellence in the multi-year economic development program category; in 2012 for excellence in entrepreneurship and in 2014 for excellence in responding to globalization.
