GWINNETT COUNTY, GA (June 17, 2025) – Partnership Gwinnett, in collaboration with Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS), recently hosted the 2025 Principal Field Trip, an annual initiative designed to bridge education and industry. The program gives school leaders a firsthand look at Gwinnett’s key employers while promoting alignment between classroom instruction and real-world career pathways.
This year’s event featured immersive tours and discussions at a diverse group of Gwinnett-based companies and institutions, including Intuitive, RS Andrews, Georgia Gwinnett College, Amazon, Takedown Apparel, Megadyne, North Georgia Health Systems, ViaSat, Northside Hospital, and the O’Reilly Auto Parts Distribution Center. From healthcare and logistics to advanced manufacturing and higher education, the day highlighted the breadth of career opportunities available in the region.
“Opening our doors to local school principals gives us a valuable opportunity to showcase the cutting‑edge skills required within our industry,” said Jamila Pope, Community Engagement Lead at Intuitive. “Collaborating directly with educators helps equip tomorrow’s graduates with the technical know‑how and problem‑solving abilities essential to our business’s sustainability and growth.”
Gwinnett County Public Schools, the largest district in Georgia, serves more than 182,000 students across 142 schools. The district’s robust career pathways and college and career readiness programs support workforce development through exploration, certification, and real-world experiences.
“The Principal Field Trip is an essential opportunity for our school leaders to see how education connects to the needs of our local economy,” said Dr. Al Taylor, interim superintendent of Gwinnett County Public Schools. “By deepening our understanding of the skills employers are looking for, we can better prepare students to succeed in whatever path they choose.”
The Principal Field Trip is one part of a broader, county-wide effort to build a future-ready workforce. The insights gathered during this event shape conversations around talent development and deliver key insights to be covered at Partnership Gwinnett’s upcoming Workforce Forum.
“A key strategy in our public-private-partnership is to create a seamless talent pipeline in Gwinnett, one that begins in the classroom and leads to meaningful careers,” said Kevin Carmichael, Senior Vice President of Economic Development at Partnership Gwinnett. “Events like the Principal Field Trip, our Workforce Forums, and the upcoming Workforce Summit foster an environment where influential decision makers are listening, learning, and taking action together.”
Partnership Gwinnett’s Workforce Forum will take place on June 26 with the future Workforce Summit happening later in October.
