Birchwood Foods Expands Operations in Gwinnett County

(GWINNETT- METRO ATLANTA) February 25,2019 – Birchwood Foods, an industry leader in fresh, frozen and cooked protein solutions, joined Partnership Gwinnett and the Georgia Department of Economic Development to announce the expansion of its operations in Gwinnett County, metro Atlanta, Georgia. The expansion will bring 80 new jobs and $33M in capital investment to the community.

Birchwood’s new state-of-the-art 80K square-foot manufacturing facility, located at 6009 Goshen Springs Road in the City of Norcross and the Gateway 85 Community Improvement District (CID), will provide the space for the company to produce fully cooked and portioned protein products for national restaurant chains and retailers.

“The City of Norcross and Gwinnet County have always been helpful and supportive of Birchwood Foods’ continued growth,” said Dennis Vignieri, President and CEO of Birchwood Foods. “This is the third major expansion at the Norcross campus since we began operations in 1988. This community provides a productive and talented workforce in addition to an excellent geographical location in the Southeast to service our growing customer base. We look forward to many years of continued community growth and partnership with the City of Norcross and Gwinnett County.”

Birchwood, which is headquartered in Kenosha, Wisconsin, plans to continue their expansion over the next five to seven years and will add an additional 25-35 employees at the Norcross location.

“On behalf of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, I would like to congratulate the Birchwood Foods team on this exiting expansion news,” said Lindsay Martin, Director of Existing Industry & Regional Recruitment at the Georgia Department of Economic Development. “This announcement is a testament to Georgia’s pro-business environment that is not only attractive to new businesses, but supports the growth of its existing industries.”

“Birchwood Foods is another industry leader that has chosen to invest in Gwinnett County,” said Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chair Charlotte Nash. “Gwinnett provides the ideal location for companies in the manufacturing and distribution industry to easily reach their customers, both nationally and worldwide.”

Birchwood Foods is third-generation family owned business that specializes in center-of-the-plate protein items for some of the world’s best-know restaurants and retailers.

“Birchwood Food’s expansion is great news for the City of Norcross,” stated Mayor Craig Newton. “Their ability to deliver innovative products to market leaders around the country is a win for our community and we are proud of the company’s success.”

“It is very exciting to see businesses in our district succeed and grow,” said Gateway 85 CID Executive Director Marsha Bomar. “Birchwood, along with others in the area, have benefitted from the investments made by the CID and our partners and we look forward to a bright future.”
