(GWINNETT- METRO ATLANTA) October 30, 2019 – Partnership Gwinnett joined Doosan Industrial Vehicle, a global leader in material handling equipment, at their headquarters in Seoul, South Korea to announce the expansion of their North American headquarters in the City of Buford, Gwinnett County, Georgia. The announcement represents an 85% growth in employee headcount and an additional 50,000-square-feet.
Doosan’s facility located off Mill Center Parkway in the City of Buford, will house sales, marketing and warehousing departments. This location also houses a state-of-the-art parts operation, supplying over 50,000-line items to support its affiliate groups. The expansion will include expanded warehouse and office space with custom renovations, as well as investment in new office furniture.
“Doosan is constantly seeking new product innovations. This expansion reinforces our position as a leader in the materials handling industry,” said Doosan CEO Tony Jones. “This expansion will also bring further investment and job opportunities to the local area, contributing to the economy here in Gwinnett County.”
Doosan plans to increase employee headcount by 21% by the end of 2020 and another 8% in 2021. This equates to 25 additional jobs for the Doosan Industrial Vehicle America Corporation division.
“Gwinnett County is the ideal location for business looking to expand in the Southeast,” said Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chair, Charlotte Nash. “This expansion is a testament to our dynamic workforce, pro-business climate and innovation opportunities. We look forward to Doosan’s continued growth.”
The facility moves 1,000 trucks a month and houses over 24,000-part numbers to provide fast response time and reduced lead time on trucks for clients in North America.
“Doosan’s expansion is great news for the City,” said Buford City Manager Bryan Kerlin. “Their ability to deliver innovation to the marketplace is a win for our community and we are pleased with the company’s continued success.”
In 2018 Doosan launched a new retail division, Doosan Material handling Solutions. The new division now has four locations, Buford, GA; Austell, GA; Fayetteville, GA and Buena Park, CA.
“Gwinnett County continues to be a strong draw for companies like Doosan,” said Deven Cason, Director of Economic Development at Partnership Gwinnett. “It’s another example of this community attracting diverse companies from around the world as a place where they can invest and grow.”
