(GWINNETT-METRO ATLANTA) June 28, 2019 – Partnership Gwinnett and The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center (SBDC) announced the winner of the 8th annual Amazing Entrepreneur Contest at the 2019 Demo Day event held at the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce. The grand prize went to Spool School, an imaginative sewing business featuring sewing classes, camps, and parties sharing the art of sewing with all ages.

The annual contest encourages the creation of startups and viable enterprises while engaging the region’s support services. It requires participants to submit a business plan summary for judging, with finalists earning the opportunity to present before a panel of leading business professionals.

The contest also recognized first and second runners-up:

First runner-up: Best Patient Experience – a strategy consulting company empowering healthcare leaders through custom, actionable strategy. The business helps clients deliver excellent customer experiences at every point of their patients’ care journey.

Second Runner-up: Addictive Math – a math tutoring center in Suwanee, Georgia using one of the world’s top ranked math teaching methods. The method uses a three-step process of concrete, pictorial, and abstract teaching popularized in Singapore.

“The Amazing Entrepreneur Contest helps small businesses and entrepreneurs execute mature business strategies with the help of professional resources from impressive and committed local partners,” said Glenn Kruse, Area Director at The UGA SBDC. “The contest truly complements our office’s mission of small business development. We’re proud to be a part of it and wish these business leaders a lifetime of success.”

The grand prize winner received $2,500 towards future business efforts, a refurbished Mac computer, a one-year Gwinnett Chamber membership ($500 minimum value), Small Business Summit passes ($120 value) and a scholarship to the SBDC’s “Grow Smart” program in addition to marketing and promotional opportunities. The first runner up received $1,000 to be used to support the business.
